We’re proud to announce the launch of our new winter seasonal beer – Obsidian. The 5.0% dark ale with hints of chocolate and raisins has already been on sale for a week and already the first batch has sold out. It proved a great success in the Royal Oak in Wrexham town centre when it sold out after only a day, the first beer they’ve sold ever to do so.

The second batch is already in the fermenter so be sure not to miss this one!

You may notice that the pumpclip, and name, is a far cry from our previous branding. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement we commissioned a new design of pumpclip from Nicola Carr of Neopog Designs. The sleak, minimalisic look was designed to attract attention while not trying to overshadow the beer. The design will be rolled out over all our current range of beers over the next month or so

We were delighted to welcome 1st Rhosnesi Scouts to the brewery over two consecutive friday nights. James took the Scouts through how barley, water, hops and yeast are put together to make beer, explaining how different flavours and strengths are produced.

After the tour the Scouts were given a quiz on alcohol which made clear to them the health risks concerned with drinking.

The visit also proved popular with parents with quite a few dads attending to sample the various real ales that Sandstone produce.
